Introducing our new BHS Principal Ms. Katie Mizak

The Bremerton School District is pleased to welcome Katherine (Katie) Mizak to the Bremerton School District community as the new principal of Bremerton High School!

“Katherine brings a unique blend of warmth, humility, and high expectations,” said Iva Scott, Assistant Superintendent. “Her references consistently highlight the deep trust she builds with students, staff, and families. With her strong background and proven skills, I am excited and confident that she will lead Bremerton High School forward with heart and purpose.”

Ms. Mizak describes herself as a lifelong learner dedicated to empowering all students to discover their passions and reach their full potential. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she attended diverse public schools that were foundational in shaping her worldview.

She has worked in the Chicago Public Schools for 17 years and spent one year in Boston Public Schools while earning her administrative certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. For the past 11 years, she has served as an Assistant Principal at a high school on the southwest side of Chicago.

Ms. Mizak is looking forward to moving to the Pacific Northwest and being closer to family in Seattle. In her free time, she enjoys music, reading, and spending time in nature. She looks forward to getting to know the community and partnering with staff, families, and students.

Ms. Mizak’s contract begins July 1, pending board approval.
