Alex and Dorothy have been extraordinary assets to our school community and incredible supporters of our students and our school district for many years.

Dr. Dorothy Ghylin-Bennett was born in Oklahoma and moved to Bremerton 77 years ago. Dorothy was a graduate of West High in 1963 and served as a teacher and counselor for Bremerton School District from 1968 - 1974 and then from 1978 - 1998. What makes Alex and Dorothy so special is their unwavering belief that every child could be an accomplishment. At one point, Dr. G had 5 academy attendees at one time while BHS students earned millions of dollars in scholarships while she was a counselor. Alex was the first person to wear the Knight Armor and is proud to have been the First Knight ever.
Now, they continue to celebrate former students who live around the world, advocating and standing next to them as champions of their continued success. And in the coming weeks Alex and Dorothy will be moving to be with their son and his family as they cheer him on as the Head Basketball Coach at the University of Dallas.
