    NO SCHOOL Friday, Feb. 15

NO HAY ESCUELA Viernes, 15 de febrero

All Bremerton School District schools will be CLOSED on Friday, Feb. 15

More than two-thirds of our students either walk or are driven to school. While we recognize that many roadways are now clear, most sidewalks in the District are still covered with deep snow and ice. We are also hearing from families and staff who are still snowed in at home due to large amounts of snow/ice in their driveways in Bremerton and throughout Kitsap County.

We know these snow days are a hardship on many of our families. And we share the concern many have expressed about the number of snow days we’ve taken this month.

But the bottom line is safety. It is not safe to have hundreds of our children and families walking to their neighborhood schools on the road because sidewalks aren’t clear after the record-breaking snowfall our community has experienced.

Our facilities staff have done an outstanding job getting our facilities ready to go, and the City of Bremerton has done a tremendous job clearing roadways. We want to thank the City for clearing the neighborhood streets around our schools.

    • Please watch the District website and FB page for updates on events and activities scheduled this weekend.
    • School is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 19th.  There is no school on Monday, February 18th due to the President’s Day. We hope you enjoy the long weekend.
    • BSD Staff: Please watch your emails for updates and contact your supervisor with questions

    .

We Are Bremerton:  New District Video

Social and emotional learning is the framework for our efforts to support our students’ social, emotional, and academic learning and success. Research shows that social and emotional learning substantially improves academic achievement, increases positive behaviors (such as kindness and empathy), improves student attitudes toward school, and reduces depression and stress among students. We believe it is our responsibility to educate a child’s character as much as their intellect – and that is reflected in our new video. We hope it gives you a sense of our commitment to the success of all students in the Bremerton School District. View it full-screen on YouTube.
