BSD Board Named "Board of Distinction"

Bremerton School District Board Recognized as a Board of Distinction

photo of BSD board As you may have seen in The Kitsap Sun, The Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) has named the Bremerton School District Board as a Board of Distinction for medium-sized school districts.

The Boards of Distinction recognition program awards school boards that demonstrate alignment with the Washington School Board Standards

Boards must apply for the recognition annually. In addition to submitting general information, the application requires two written essays that must be supported by evidence. Examples of evidence include data, portions of board meeting minutes, protocols, policies, evaluation tools or communications.

The Boards of Distinction holds rigorous standards. Judges include past or present state board members and superintendents.

One overall winner is selected for each category: small, medium and large school districts. The winners of that distinction are announced at WSSDA’s annual conference in November.
