Being Said About West Hills STEM Academy

Thank you so much for letting Starbucks be a part of the first day of school. I had so much fun welcoming the students into the front doors. Let's keep in touch throughout the school year!

Hello Ms Heaman & Ms Tee,
Thanks for you and all your staff for that wonderful crowd to all students but to me that was important to my son for his first day to WHSTEM and 2nd grade!  What a positive way to welcome many students.  I appreciate that.
We are looking forward to a great year for him. :)

Your staff has made amazing efforts to accommodate my son's behaviors and learning style. He has grown a lot. I love this school and the love and support you've shown.

We just wanted to wish you all a great Friday and thank you all for your patience and your time yesterday during the annual vision and hearing screening.  Shout out to Debra George and Dawn Hensley for the use of their classrooms!  WH/STEM is a beautiful building, full of life!  Thank you for sharing!

We couldn't have done it without you!

My daughter was a first time student at West Hills last year, from the first day of school I knew this was going to be a wonderful experience for not only my daughter but our whole family! Upon entering school on the first day the entire staff lined the entryway to greet the children, clapping, cheering and giving out high fives to welcome them back to school. To see such positivity in the teachers and other staff really gives us parents a good feeling especially because these are who our most prized possessions (children) will be spending their days with.

Most recently we made the decision to switch our middle school aged son from the local middle school to West Hills STEM program for 6-8th graders. We couldn't be happier with the team of teachers who head this program!

Unfortunately, my husband who is a government worker was recently deployed to CA and we decided it would be best for our family if we went with him. With this being said I cannot express how wonderful the ladies at West Hills have been aiding our family in this transition! I have 4 children and I have never received such positive help and guidance from a school as I have from this wonderful staff.

We love and appreciate you all, and we cannot wait to return to our homeschool in a few months! Keep up the good work, it's making a difference!

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I appreciate all that your office staff does to go above and beyond!

A situation occurred Friday regarding a message getting to my son.  While Erin did not take the message, she has been on top of figuring out what happened and communicating what she found out to me.  I had an email from her before I even got home on Friday letting me know she would look further into it and by the time I got to work this morning she already had the answer.

Your front office staff has ALWAYS been so helpful, welcoming, caring, concerned and just plain fun to work with in every capacity I have held at WH from parent, to guest teacher.  I am sad to not be at West Hills on a daily basis this year, however, comforted to know that while I am not there, my son is truly in good hands!

THANK YOU West Hills STEM office staff, YOU ROCK!

    Good morning Ms. Craig,

I just wanted to let you know what my son told me yesterday when I picked him up. He told me that he absolutely loves school and can't wait to go back. It has been a rough few years for my son in school.  It was so very nice to hear him say that.

Thank you for doing such a good job.

Thank you to you and the staff for hosting our Cadets for the Job Shadow!  We appreciate the valuable experience that you gave to our Cadets.   We have several Cadets interested in a career in Education and it was great to be able to match them up with their career choice.  This cycle, we had 100% of our Cadets participate in the Job Shadow held over two days. Our Cadets really enjoyed their experience at the West Hills STEM Academy.  We look forward to working with you again in the future.

    Thank you,

Very honored to have been invited to and participated in a STEM forum today at West Hills STEM Academy. A group of 40+ individuals assembled out of Olympia from STEM related programs and industries are currently on a tour of area STEM Schools and programs. Bremerton was one of their stops. I was invited to be a part of the "parents" panel because I have a district student who was a part of the STEM program at West Hills since its inception and who has now transitioned very successfully on to Bremerton High School. This group was traveling with a film and sound crew, and I was one of the participants who was "mic'd" up for the session. Extremely invigorating and exciting to be a part of this. Bremerton should be very proud of this program, how successful it has become and how much state and national attention it is getting for those successes.

    Dear Mrs. Heaman,
I just wanted write a quick note to say Thank You. Our daughter truly loves being at the STEM Academy. The last two years have been pretty rough for her, and both of us. In the short time she has been there we are seeing such beautiful improvement in her. She is not stressed, or complaining of headaches anymore. News that I can't wait to share with her neurologist.

She is happy to go to school, and when I pick her up she talks my ear off about what she did that day. She is a smart little girl, and Mrs. Durham is a perfect fit for her. Mrs. Durham keeps her challenged, which has always been an issue for our daughter. The most important thing is that she is feeling safe. Which is paramount for us.

Again, a Thank You for accepting her into the West Hills STEM Academy. It has been one of the best decisions we have made for our daughters education. We appreciate all that you do for the students, and the school. It is obvious to us how much you care about each of your students, and the school as a whole.

The school's curriculum enhances and maintains my child's learning pace. He is always excited to do and discuss tasks and projects in this learning environment.. His friends and teachers make him feel confident in his continued progress and enhancements. We believe no other school other than WH STEM Academy can give him the tools for his learning style.

My daughter has excelled at West Hills. Quick build a high school, please

My daughter has really enjoyed attending West Hills STEM Academy!

Mrs. Durham has been great with our child and has helped my daughter when she has needed it.

Once again, on behalf of our teachers and parents, thank you for taking the time to come to our turf and share your expertise with us on STEM. It was validating to hear your story as a School and Staff and know that we are headed in the right direction. Based on your knowledge and experience, what value would you place on this STEM Institute by Laser for our district leadership team versus other ways of developing our understanding to implement STEM throughout our Elementary Schools (4 schools)?

That may be a big question, but I am looking for value and depth of training.

Huge thanks again to you and your staff for fitting us into the crazy busy world of school.  We really valued it, and walked away with a bank of ideas and conversations to develop our practices/programs at STEM@Boren in Seattle. You time generosity was extraordinary.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Lisa and Desiree,

I just wanted to thank both of you for your time and efforts last Friday, and your other staff that met with us as well (I don’t have everyone’s email).  We came away with some great ideas about how we can begin to implement this type of curriculum at our school.

Oh my goodness...what fun we had as a family last night at the State Science Fair!! We were exhausted (as parenting tends to be) after 3 trips to Bremerton High yesterday and then a computer glitch that left the awards ceremony waiting...

But so worth it!!  When they called Ron's name, we all went crazy.  There was a nice West Hills STEM group of students, parents and teachers to cheer on all the winners.

It was one of those moments we will always remember.. We stopped and got ice cream on the way home at the grocery store at 11 pm...

A special thanks goes to Mrs Smith and Mrs Forbes for providing a fun and rewarding learning environment at your school. :)

And today we are off to the State Gymnastics meet with a boost of confidence. We love our school!!
