February 9, 2018 - New Look for ECCE!!!
The ECCE partnership is proud to unveil their new site posters and logo! After many drafts and hard work the ECCE directors and teachers now have a new look to celebrate!
We would like to give special thanks to Pattye Heuer for all of her design expertise in helping create these fantastic illustrations that represent the core goals of the ECCE partnerships!
During our February training our ECCE teachers spoke with Desiree Hovland & Bridget Johnson from the Division of Children & Family Services.  Ms. Hovland and Johnson spent time explaining their roles in the FAR (Family Assessment Response) program.  This program is designed to open the door to a partnership between the family and Children's Administration to engage in an assessment of safety, risk, strengths, and needs. We also had the pleasure of listening to Alyson Rotter (President - Bremerton School District Board) talk about the effects and implications of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).  It was an amazing day full of engaging and timely information for our providers! Thank you to all of our presenters & attendees!

December 2017 Meeting a Huge Success!

We are proud to celebrate our December professional development topic: Phonological Awareness (a student’s ability to hear and play with sounds in words).

This month our ECCE partners spent time learning about the research foundations of Phonological Awareness.  They also spent time planning great activities to do with their preschool students!

We were excited to have representatives from Kitsap Regional Library come and share information about all of the wonderful resources that are available to our teachers and families.  If you would like to learn more about the importance of Phonological Awareness and how to help your child here is a link for some great ideas: https://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/big5-strategies-teachers-phonological-awareness-eng.pdf.
