Teacher and Principal Evaluation System
The Washington State Legislature approved three instructional frameworks to guide teaching and learning in the state. The three instructional frameworks are Marzano, Danielson and UW CEL 5D. The law requires that school districts adopt a framework and its related evaluation system for implementation beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.
The Bremerton School District formed an Evaluation Design Team consisting of nine administrators and 16 certificated staff members. The Team was awarded a Regional Implementation Grant to evaluate the frameworks; select a preferred framework; and begin training. After much thoughtful review and polling of building staff members, the Evaluation Design Team overwhelmingly selected the UW CEL 5D Instructional Framework for implementation in the upcoming school year.
The Board of Directors officially adopted this framework during the June 20, 2013 School Board meeting.

Additionally, The Washington State Legislature approved two leadership frameworks for use by districts across the state for administrators: AWSP Leadership Framework and Marzano School Leadership Framework. The law requires that school districts adopt a leadership framework and its related evaluation system for implementation beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. Because the administrative team has been using the AWSP model for the past two years and has been satisfied with the process and its results, District administrators are recommending its continuation.
The Board of Directors officially adopted the AWSP Framework during the July 11, 2013 School Board meeting. You can download a copy of AWSP Leadership framework here.
