The Bremerton School District participates in federal and state mandated assessments. Subjects included in the Washington State Standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math will be assessed using the Smarter Balanced system along with the End-of-Course assessments for high school Algebra or Geometry and the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), and the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century. Until new science standards are adopted, students will continue to be assessed using the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) in grades 5 and 8 along with the End -of-Course Biology for high school. For additional information, please review the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction website.
We also use data from the Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing SKills (WA-KIDS), the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy (DIBELS), EasyCBM for mathematics and other classroom-based assessments to provide a better quality education for our students. Information about testing is available through our district office and individual schools.
