Aaron Leavell, Ed.D.


    Dr. Aaron Leavell started his career as a teacher, coach and athletic director in the Bremerton School District at the secondary schools working at Bremerton Junior High and then Bremerton High School.  He became the Principal at Bremerton High where he remained for five years.

    While principal at Bremerton High, Dr. Leavell was nominated and chosen as Regional Principal of the Year and then State Principal of the Year from the Association of Washington School Principals.
    Dr. Leavell left the district in 2009 to become the Director of Secondary Education in the North Kitsap School District where he remained for three years before returning to Bremerton as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction and School Support.
    Dr. Leavell was asked by the Board of Directors to replace outgoing Superintendent Herndon to lead the Bremerton School District in September 2013.

    Dr. Leavell is a member of Bremerton Rotary where he served as president in 2019-20.  He is the 2021-22 president of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA)

    Dr. Leavell and his wife Kelli have three sons.
