The Washington Reading Corps in the Bremerton School District is a literacy tutoring program that focuses on improving students’ reading skills in grades K-5. For each grade and at each of the four schools it serves, WRC members have established tutoring programs that rely on research-based models and practices, strong community partnerships, family involvement and effectively trained volunteers.
You can make a positive difference in a child's life by volunteering to be a reading tutor at one of the four WRC schools. As a volunteer, you will work one-on-one or in small groups with students, and all the materials and training you need to be an effective tutor will be provided. You get to choose what grade you would like to tutor, and times are available throughout the school day.
Any person interested in volunteering some of their time to make a difference in a child's life should e-mail or call the VISTA volunteer coordinator at one of the four Bremerton WRC schools. For more information about each WRC program, click on the name of the school.
