IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ARMIN JAHR PARENTS

We are deeply saddened by today’s incident and our thoughts are with this child, her family our staff and all involved.  This kind of incident does not just impact an individual school but every school and the community as a whole. 
 
At this stage in the investigation, detectives believe the shooting was accidental. We have linked the most recent press release from the Bremerton Police Department.  Our website will be updated if new information becomes available.
 

UPDATE 3:50 PM
 
Armin Jahr Elementary went into lockdown this afternoon close to the end of the school day. The building remained in lockdown until the Bremerton Police were able to determine students and staff were safe.

At approximately 1:29 pm police were dispatched to the school for a reported shooting. Police arrived and discovered a student with a gunshot wound. The student was immediately transported for treatment. The other student and the gun have been located.

There will be a faculty meeting at 8:30 am on Thursday morning.School will be on normal schedule tomorrow with grief counselors available for students, staff and parents. Substitue teachers will be availalbe if necessary.  Police escorts were present on all schools bus to their destinations.

UPDATE 3:17 PM
There has been an incident at Armin Jahr Elementary. Patty Glaser and Flip Herndon are on site. The police and Washington State Patrol are investigating. The third grader involved in the incident is in police custody. Parents can pick up their children in the gym if they walk.  A Special Edcuation bus has left Armin Jahr at this time. The three other bus routes have been delayed. As more details become availalbe we will keep you informed.
 
The Bremerton Police Department and the Bremerton School District are working to reunite students and parents.
 
Investigators are currently on scene and conducting interviews and other investigations.
