Dr. Elizabeth "Bette" Hyde
The 2006-2007 school year is one of great promise for the Bremerton School District.
Our Washington Assessment for Student Learning (WASL) scores at 10th grade have shown steady improvement, particularly in Language Arts, and we are continuing our emphasis on enhancing the achievement of each and every student in our district. Bremerton High School graduating class of 2006 earned in excess of $2 million in scholarships, attesting to the fine education they received in our schools.
We continue to expand our options for Gifted and Talented students, as well as provide high quality, specialized programs for students who need assistance. This year, we will continue our focus on Respect, Responsibility, and Safety, and behaving the “Knight Way” at all of our schools. We have been awarded a grant for a partnership with our local NAACP to mentor high school students considered at risk for graduation.
This year we are thrilled by our community’s overwhelmingly positive response to our new, free all-day kindergarten program, which is now available to all families in our district. Our recently passed four-year levy ensures the continuity of essential district programs as we prepare for a busy year of construction - thanks to your support of our $30 million bond. Over the coming months, you will see exciting changes visibly appear at both the middle school and the high school, as well as many infrastructure and technology changes in all the schools in our district.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and our schools. We welcome your input and ideas, as well as your visits to our schools at anytime.
