The charge of the Mapping the Bremerton Schools' Future Committee is to provide recommendations to the Superintendent about short-term and long-term facilities needs and plans.

Specific objectives include:

  1. Reviewing and becoming knowledgeable about facility related data gathered and prepared by the District Review Team (DRT).  Materials are reviewed in the context of the District's Educational Design Plan for improving student achievement and relative to information provided on the community use of school facilities.
  2. Developing recommendations for short-term facilities and program delivery plans for the 2007-2009 school years.
  3. Reaffirming or modifying the District's long-range facility plan.
  4. Reviewing the need and timing for a capital facilities bond to implement the long-range facility plan.
  5. Recommending budgetary measures for the immediate future (2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years) and a long-term bond.
  6. Gathering input from and sharing recommendations with the Bremerton School District community at large.

The Committee will be appointed by the Board, based on recommendations for membership provided by the Superintendent.  The Committee will be facilitated by an outside consultant and will meet from February 2007 through June 2007 and again September 2007 through December 2007.  The Committee is advisory to the Superintendent who will, in turn, present her recommendation to the Board of Directors for final consideration.
