Building Safe, Responsible, & Respectful Communities

Led by: Linda Jenkins, Bob Hamilton

  • Continue implementation of Bully/Respect Policy
  • Building School-wide Positive Behavior Support
  • Dr. Jeff Sprague, Consultant:
    • Training 4 times in 2006-07 school year
    • Psychologists, counselors, principals
    • MVMS, BHS Behavior teams, View Ridge, Naval Avenue and West Hills staff
  • Collect data on suspensions, expulsions, classroom referrals, attendance
  • Collect data around 4 positives for each negative
  • Collect attendance data on staff and students and develop incentives for increasing attendance
  • Include Positive Behavior Support in CSIP plans
  • Develop Positive support systems to increase attendance

Assessment Cadre K-10

Led by: Lyle Burbidge, Jill Carlson , Lisa Heaman, Michaeleen Gelhaus, Iva Scott, Bob Hamilton, Linda Jenkins, Martine Wayman, Consultant

  • Create formative and summative assessments for Language Arts and Math  K-10 (replaces Assess2Learn)
  • Align assessment, instruction, curriculum, and reporting
  • 20 staff, 5 Bldg Administrators

Early Childhood Initiative - 6+ yrs

Full-day Kindergarten

Building Professional Communities

Led by: Melissa James, Pat Herzig, Linda Jenkins, Jill Carlson, Michaeleen Gelhaus, Iva Scott and Lynn Caddell

  • K-12 Administrators to meet for four Monday afternoons to complete training
  • MVMS to be decided with Michaeleen and Alison
  • Instructional Coaches and District TOSAs meet weekly to respond to the training needs/support teachers and principals at the building level.
