Welcome Back |
September 2011 Dear Staff, Welcome to the 2011-12 school year. I was able to get around to most schools last week as everyone was preparing for the opening of school on Wednesday, September 7th! I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the great Pacific Northwest late-Summer. For some students and families, we know that this will be their first experience with our staff and schools. I truly appreciate your efforts to make them feel welcome and supported. For our returning students we will need to continue to support those who are in need, challenge our students who are flourishing, and give the supports and tools to enable all of our students to be life-long learners. Last year, Bremerton (like all other districts around the state) did feel the impact of state budget reductions. While it is unknown what may happen economically this year, one thing that I do know is that we are dedicated to supporting all of our students to the best of our ability. There are times when program offerings may change or there may be some reductions in services or availability of staff, we are however trying to maintain as much continuity as possible. I am confident in the ability of our staff to meet these challenges and still deliver a quality educational opportunity for our students. I wish you the best for a successful 2011-12 School Year. IMPORTANT Changes to Dental Plan Options |
After a full review by your Health Benefits Committee, the decision was made to drop Washington Dental Service (WDS) to join a dental consortium with North Kitsap and South Kitsap (and others) to strengthen our plan and provide more options for employees. We’re pleased to introduce Ameritas as our new dental provider. Of course, we are maintaining Willamette as well. If your current dental plan is through either Washington Dental Service (WDS) or United Concordia, you must select a new plan for the upcoming year. If you do not make a selection by September 12, the default selection will be Ameritas Plan A, Employee Only. |
